We certainly had a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious party for Cibella’s 4th birthday! I cannot believe the party was almost 2 weeks ago already. I don’t think I have completely gotten all of the Mary Poppins tunes out of my head yet!
The day started off cloudy, cool, and rainy! Where oh where was the high 70 degree weather and sunshine the weatherman had forecasted? Thankfully, by mid morning the sun was peaking out and the air was warming up.
Guests were greeted at the walkway to the backyard with Mary’s black umbrella and outing hat along with Bert’s chimney brush and hat. A poster sign featuring silhouettes of Mary, Bert and the London chimney skyline takes a quote from the movie providing instructions on how to enter the party by jumping into the chalk drawing.

White umbrellas suspended from above, the children’s dining, and a wood structure of the chimney skylines were the focal points in the yard.
Activities for the children included Build a Penguin, where guests were invited to stuff their own penguin
Let’s Go Fly a Kite where they could decorate a kite to bring home
Mrs. Brill’s Baking Day where they decorated sugar cookies with various colored icings and toppings

Pearly’s Band Instruments
Bert’s Chalk Drawings where adults and children alike enjoyed drawing on the patio by the pool.
Games included Pin the Bowtie on the Penguin, Tuppence Toss, created in the fashion of a boardwalk-style penny toss, and the Spoonful of Sugar Relay Race where the children raced to fill a tea cup full of sugar using soup spoons.
Suspended across the pool were a collection of kites that swayed in the breeze.
My daughter’s one request for this party was to be dressed in Mary’s white Jolly Holiday dress. I was fortunate to have found Lora of Beneath the Willow who not only made a beautiful Mary dress, but also the coat and tie for Bert’s outfit. Unfortunately, my son wanted to go bow-tie-less so I will need to get a complete outfit photo of him in the near future!

I wanted to create an elegant tablescape for the children’s dining table. I used children’s sized white ballroom chairs, white linen tablecloth with a lavender pintuck table runner down the center. I had an eclectic array of crystal and silver bowls used for the centerpieces of pink roses and purple kale in addition to a silver tea set. Lavender satin napkins with rose napkin rings were placed at each seat. Mary and Bert placecards indicated where each child was to sit. Boys found a skimmer hat at their placesetting where girls found white gloves and straw brimmed hats at theirs.

Beverages included cucumber infused water, lemonade, raspberry ice, and rum punch, for the adults only, of course!

Cute straw tags featuring Bert, Mary, a penguin, carousel horse, and sayings such as ‘Jolly Holiday’ and ‘Chim Cher-ee’ adorned the gray striped paper straws from Hey Yo Yo.
I used the same images to create napkin rings as well.
I created the dessert tablescape using the same chalk drawing image based on a the Jolly Holiday scene from Mary Poppins. While in past years, I have made the birthday cakes for my children, I will never have to again! Elyse of By Little Hands created a beautiful two-tiered cake with kites, butterflies, and penguins. Not only did it look beautiful, the taste was to die for! I’ve never had anyone ask for seconds of cake before, but this cake went in seconds! (I did manage to steal 2 extra slices to enjoy on Sunday, however!)

To complement the cake, I made a batch of vanilla cupcakes since the cake was chocolate. Jen of TheLilDetails created wonderful 1.5″ tall fondant penguins complete with bowties to adorn some of them.
The tablescape also included various confections and baked goods in shades of pink and white. Candy and caramel apples tied with pink and white striped ribbon and spoonfuls of sugar provided the finishing touch to the table.

I purchased hand blended tea from Teaman in 6 varieties and placed them in tea tins wrapped in ribbons and finished off with ornate-framed labels.
Since I was providing an abundant table of sweets, I opted not to include candy in the children’s favor boxes and stuck with items that had ties to the movie. Each child received chalk to ‘Jump into their chalk drawings,’ a ceramic piggy bank they can decorate at home with 2 pennies inside to ‘Save their Tuppence,’ and an eyelet wrapped bag of bird seed to ‘Feed the Birds.’

It was certainly a Jolly Holiday, indeed!

Things are coming together nicely for Cibella’s upcoming birthday. I am receiving boxes of party supplies, favors, and decor almost daily and my dining room table has become party central. The UPS man knows well, knocking on the door saying, “More Poppins supplies!”
As promised, I wanted to share the invitations I designed for the party.
Back when Cibella decided on the party concept, I immediately thought of a carousel horse. I had a horse designed to resemble her absolute favorite carousel horse (Cinderella’s horse in Disney World, but according to Cibella – the horse belongs to Aurora!) and the carousel horse in Disneyland dedicated to Mary Poppins.

My daughter and I decided to use lavender as the primary color for the party (a nod to Mary’s carousel horse in the movie) with pinks and blues as accent colors.

I created a 2 layer pochette invitation. A rounded square seal featuring a silhouette of Mary flying keeps the invitation closed. I used the wrap around mailing label again, and designed it to feature memorable icons and images based on the movie – a spoonful of sugar, a penguin waiter, Mary’s boots, and the carousel horse.

I think they turned out ‘practically perfect in every way’ to coin a phrase from Mary herself!

We are less than 2 weeks away from Cibella’s Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Jolly Holiday Birthday. I cannot believe she is going to be 4 in just 6 days! Time has certainly flown by as had this past year. It seems like only yesterday I was planning her Princess Aurora: Make it Pink no Make it Blue Party. She hardly gave me a chance to recuperate from it when she decided that her next party would be Mary Poppins themed.
In the next few days I will share with you her invitation and some sneak peeks into her party decor.
Here is the inspiration board I put together for the party.

Eight months after Cibella’s party, I am finally posting her party pictures. I was seriously considering waiting until September in anticipation of her next party, but I decided to share now!
My daughter loves all things Aurora. She is hands-down her favorite princess, so much so that the castle in Disney World does not belong to Cinderella, but Aurora (sorry, Cindy!). The beautiful horse with the golden bow on Cinderella’s carousel is also Aurora’s. Needless to say, there was no question what the theme of her 3rd birthday party would be!
When I began planning her party, I grabbed a fresh notebook to jot all my ideas down, as I do for every event, and realized that the family has many more boys than girls so I needed to create activities that would appeal to both without the boys cringing at the fact that they were attending a princess party.
Without further adieu …
The kids would be able to make a craft – either a princess crown or coach frame to decorate or a knights’ frame. Here is all the supplies as I was setting up. I was able to get the knight’s craft on clearance at AC Moore!

Aurora’s friends, Fauna, Flora, and Merryweather were able to fly over for the festivities!

There were 2 main activities I planned in addition to the craft station. For the boys, they would be transformed into knights complete with sword and shield and set out to slay the dragon!

Upon being knighted, the boys were thrilled to practice their jousting techniques.

My son, Luca, getting some expert tips from his uncle.
A very good sport, who volunteered to be the dragon.

For the girls, I created a pretty in pink princess transformation beauty area. Each girl received a pink tutu to wear and keep. They were then able to select necklaces, rings, and bracelets, have their nails painted and put on child-friendly make-up. Each was given their own lipgloss to keep and place in a pink satin purse. In the final area, they could choose from a selection of boas and were crowned an official princess with a tiara.

Even the littlest princess needs a tiara!

The birthday girl

Each child was given a royal goblet to drink from.

Long story behind the cake. I have always made my children’s cakes for each of their parties, and I had a fabulous idea for this cake in particular. I made the crown 2 weeks ahead of the party out of gumpaste, and a spare in case of breakage. The crown turned out great, the problem was the cake. The night before the party I was decorating it and it was almost complete when I dropped it on the kitchen floor. Yes, you read that right! Dropped. Smashed. Garbage! The only backup cake I could get at such short notice was from the supermarket the morning of the party. My daughter’s request was for a chocolate cake – this was the only chocolate sheet cake available. See how the pink and blue flowers match the pink and blue changing of Sleeping Beauty’s gown in the movie and is a play on Briar Rose (ok, well not really – it was pure luck but my daughter bought the idea and I’m sticking to it!)

Everyone was given a fairy cookie wand as a favor with a tiara shaped thank you tag.

The female tween crowd also received this package of bath and beauty supplies with frog prince bath gel, glass slipper bath fizzes, and a loofah sponge.

By the end of the day, my birthday girl was wiped out! My sister captured this on her phone.

Kinnaly at Kreative Kiddie Events gave me permission to showcase her absolutely stunning garden fairy tea party over a month ago, but with the changing blogs, I chose to wait until the kickoff to feature this gorgeous party! WOW is all I can say! Thank you Kinnaly for letting me share this with my readers!

For my daughter’s 6th birthday celebration last summer, I created an Enchanted Garden Fairy Tea Party for her and eleven of her closest little fairy friends. We were blessed with the most gorgeous Southern California weather, which made it perfect for me to set up her party amidst the gardens in our backyard. Everything turned out beautifully and I couldn’t have been more happier with the outcome…my little sweetheart had the most enchanting time ever!
Here is a look at some of the party details…
The adorable invitation I designed for her. Brianna was thrilled that she was able to help pin the flowers on the invitations before they were delivered to her guests.
A cute little signage I picked up on my way out of HomeGoods one day. I was able to customize it and it looked adorable on our lawn!
My beautiful birthday girl wearing a custom tutu dress I designed and created for her.
Brianna’s favorite color is pink, so I incorporated that color into the linens as well as the entire tablescape decor. I added pink feathered boas to the satin chair sashes to give it a little whimsical touch.
A close-up of the table decor. An assortment of silk gerber daisies, tulips and roses were combined with fairy statues, butterflies and birdies to create an enchanted garden setting. I also included an iron bird cage in the center of the table to add to the whimsy feel. A pink paper parasol was the perfect addition to complete the look!

Definitely the sweetest spot of the party =)
A garden birthday cake made with love for my little sweetheart! I decided at the last minute to try out my cake baking skills…to my delight, the cake turned out adorable! I was inspired by the scroll design on the cupcake stand…
My garden fairy cupcakes were a hit with Brianna’s little fairy friends!
Chocolate dipped butterfly cookies sprinkled with fairy dust.

Pink fairy tutus, fairy wings and floral halos greeted each of the guests as they arrived to the party.
