When Cibella informed me that she wanted a “pretty swamp” theme for her birthday party, I must admit that I was a bit perplexed. How was I going to make a swamp girlie and pretty? Finally, it hit me! I used inspiration from Princess and the Frog; the artwork portraying the bayou was incredibly beautiful!
While the focus of the party, as you will see in my next post, did not focus on the princess aspect, I used a silhouette of a girl kissing a frog with dragonflies surrounding the party details.

I used the lyrics to Down in New Orleans for the opening lines of the invitation:
The evening star is shining bright
So make a wish and hold on tight
There’s magic in the air tonight
And anything can happen…
My daughter requested the use of greens and purples, so I choose an avocado green paper and contrasted it with the use of lavender and plum details.

I decorated the backside of the invitation with a triple layered seal featuring my daughter’s initial and a dainty crown

Since she couldn’t choose which envelope she preferred, we opted to send half of the invitations in avocado and the other in lavender. I was fortunate that the USPS had Mark Twain stamps featuring a riverboat which lended to the bayou theme.

Stay tuned for all of the wonderful party details as we party down on the bayou!

This past Saturday, Belleza e Luce had the pleasure of being an exhibitor at the Wedding Set Go bridal show at the Sheraton. It was my first Bridal Show experience, and I think it went quite well. I met some wonderful brides-to-be and hope to work with them in the future on their weddings. I didn’t take my large camera with me, so for now, I only have these photos taken from my camera phone.

I was asked to create a swanky, fun, and festive invitation for my client’s 60th birthday bash which will be taking place the day after Christmas so that out-of-state relatives would be able to celebrate both the holidays and this special birthday with her. She loves glitz, bling, martinis, and Las Vegas so we created a modern martini glass filled with colorful ornamental baubles accented in silver glitter. This double layer pocketfold was created using metallic papers for that extra touch of shimmer. Coordinating response cards featuring a single ornament and a glittered seal to fasten the pocketfold closed finished off this invitation suite.

Thank you Connie for allowing me to design such a fun invitation for your special occasion, and a ‘Happy Birthday’ to you!

I had so much creating Luca’s invitations! I was inspired by the famous cowboy baby shower invitations at HWTM as well as these creative bachelor party invitations from Adventures in Renovating a Brooklyn Limestone. I have been dying to create an invitation with wood, but didn’t know when the perfect event would come along. Originally, Luca wanted a train birthday but decided over the summer he wanted a western roundup! The perfect event came along and the invitations were born!

It’s hard to believe that October is upon us and Halloween is just a few short weeks away! I’m sad to see the summer go and pack away the shorts and bathing suits; the air is beginning to carry a crisp chill, the leaves are falling, and the dark evening sky arrives much too early!
However, October also means Halloween and festive parties! I choose apple green and black as a color scheme for this board, and focused on chandeliers and black candles – perfect for an adults cocktail soiree but also equally chic for a teen’s bash.
Enjoy the inspiration!

Things are coming together nicely for Cibella’s upcoming birthday. I am receiving boxes of party supplies, favors, and decor almost daily and my dining room table has become party central. The UPS man knows well, knocking on the door saying, “More Poppins supplies!”
As promised, I wanted to share the invitations I designed for the party.
Back when Cibella decided on the party concept, I immediately thought of a carousel horse. I had a horse designed to resemble her absolute favorite carousel horse (Cinderella’s horse in Disney World, but according to Cibella – the horse belongs to Aurora!) and the carousel horse in Disneyland dedicated to Mary Poppins.

My daughter and I decided to use lavender as the primary color for the party (a nod to Mary’s carousel horse in the movie) with pinks and blues as accent colors.

I created a 2 layer pochette invitation. A rounded square seal featuring a silhouette of Mary flying keeps the invitation closed. I used the wrap around mailing label again, and designed it to feature memorable icons and images based on the movie – a spoonful of sugar, a penguin waiter, Mary’s boots, and the carousel horse.

I think they turned out ‘practically perfect in every way’ to coin a phrase from Mary herself!

It’s hard to believe that September is right around the corner. Days are getting shorter, and it is already getting darker earlier. Before you know it, the brisk, crisp air will be here and the leaves falling from the trees. In the next few weeks, I will be taking my children apple picking and on hay rides.

We’ve been designing some wonderful Halloween invitations and party products to get you in that spooky spirit. A few additional items will be available early next week as well. And of course, we are happy to work with you on a custom order!

Things have been wonderfully busy at Belleza e Luce! I have 3 personal parties that I am prepping for in addition to those of my fabulous clients.
The Chanel-inspired baby shower invitations for my sister turned out beautifully! I was so pleased with the final outcome after many revisions. I am a such a perfectionist, and spent many hours creating the design, reworking the colors, and finally assembling them. Until yesterday when we finally had rain (this summer we’ve had no rain, I mean none – the grass is more like hay, the deer ate my garden), our deck had pink pixie dust scattered about it.
Without further adieu, here are the invitations …
The suite consists of 3 pieces fastened together with a pewter brad nestled inside a black box lined with pink glitter and sealed with a wrap-around mailing label using the same scrollwork as the invitation. The invitation displayed a signature quote of the famous Coco Chanel:
a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous
